Rocket Fuel - Stop Hard Selling on LinkedIn!

I'm afraid this week it's going to be a bit of a rant, but here we go: Please, please, please stop hard selling on LinkedIn!

Hi everybody!

Julie here - the Sales Ace, bringing you another tip to help you skyrocket your sales.

I'm afraid this week it's going to be a bit of a rant, but here we go:

Please, please, please stop hard selling on LinkedIn!

Last week I had five people ask to connect with me and to add me to their network, and the instant I pressed the accept button, all I got was "this is what we do, this is how I do it, let's have a meeting".

Please - if you're adopting that approach on LinkedIn, can you STOP IT!

Here are the reasons why:

You're going to upset people
You're coming across as hard selling
It's going to damage your reputation and your brand's credibility
It's not networking
It's rude!

I wrote a blog about how you can correctly make new connections on LinkedIn, and you can read it here.

Hard selling on LinkedIn might bring you the odd piece of business, but long term it's not going to do you any good at all.

LinkedIn is a great, great networking and sales tool, but it needs to be used properly. I think I'm going to become a one woman crusade with the hashtag #StopHardSellingOnLinkedIn !

Sorry for the rant, but I'm sure some of you have had the same experiences. If you have, share them in the comments!
